Laryngeal Masks

Since their first use in the 1980s, laryngeal masks have become a widely-used alternative to endotracheal intubation in human patients.

Difficulties in producing a gas-tight seal in animal patients, in addition to their very considerable cost, have militated against their widespread use in veterinary practice.
